Honor and Remember: Memorial Day Weekend at Springdale Cemetery

Every day, Springdale Cemetery greets family, friends, historians, and nature lovers who come to experience our scenic vistas and historic monuments. This Memorial Day weekend, we invite the Peoria community to join us for a special series of events to honor and remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

Whether you are paying tribute to a loved one or exploring Peoria’s history, we welcome you to participate in our weekend schedule of events:

Memorial Day Drive

A Drive To Remember returns this Memorial Day. Enjoy a self-guided driving tour honoring veterans and historical residents. Maps featuring marked grave locations will be available at the cemetery entrance. Download map
Friday, May 22 – Monday, May 25 | Sunrise to Sunset | Cemetery Entrance (Welcome Tent)

Military Memorial Service

Join the American Legion Post #2 and the Marine Corps for a brief, traditional memorial service. The ceremony will feature an honor guard, color guard, and bugler.
Sunday, May 24 at 2:00 PM | Soldiers Hill

Sunrise Memorial Day Service

Gather at daybreak on Memorial Day for a brief moment of silence to honor the ultimate sacrifice made by Springdale’s many veterans. The service will conclude with a special performance of “Taps” on a Native American flute.

Memorial Day Salute – 5K Race

Support the Fuller Center and local veterans by signing up for the 9th annual race through the beautiful grounds of Springdale.

Mausoleum Open House

Stop by and introduce yourself! We would love to meet you and share historical insights and information about the Mausoleum at Peoria’s grand cemetery.
